Thats happen to my 99gt before when the truck was unlatched, the DIC displays before the chime so when you look at the DIC theres nothing there telling you what the chimings all about.
Any how thats my stupid answer it took me a couple hundred miles of chimes to figure it out.

Low fuel. Door/trunk ajar. Turn signal on for more than 3 miles or so are a few reasons.

Ya well now that I think about it it would be nice if we had a choice of sounds.
"Duck Quacks"

I'm shure theres got to be something better than a chime.

Thats true. Actually technology went backwards on this topic. I carpooled with a co worker back in the 80's who had a Datsun 280z. The car talked saying things like "Lights are on" "Battery is Low" "Forgot your keys" "Fuel is Low". You could set it for a man or womans voice too. I dont know why they dont still make them that way.

Re: Chime sound!!!!

The trunk unlatched chime is usually three short chimes in succession, not just one short chime. Actually, most of the chimes in these carse are three short chimes in succession. It could be your oil life is low, your trunk is unlatched, door ajar, low fuel...don't know if it could be low tire pressure, I've never let mine get low enough to find out. But if it is the trunk, Wylie is right, the DIC indicator will flash before the chime, so when you look, you won't see it.
