Re: "ideal wieght"

According to this BMI Calculator:
http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/calc-bmi.htm

Your BMI is 27.6, which is overweight. At the age of 16, your metabolism should be high, and will peak over the next few years so I would suggest you shoot for the low end of the normal range, 150-165 lbs as a range.

PLease remove your signature right now or I will do it for you and give you a warning.

Re: "ideal wieght"

Thanks for changing your sig. It never hurts to consult a doctor, but I would focus on:
-Avoiding all highly processed, fat saturated foods like take away and fast food etc.
-Eat smaller portions more frequently
-Focus on fresh fruit and vegetables, and lean meats like chicken and fish grilled
-Drink a lot more water
-Start some kind of moderate cardio excercise (walking to the shops instead of driving is a good start).

Hey dude I'll trade ya, haha. I'm 6 foot and 165-170 lbs usually. I wouldn't mind being more in the 180-185 range but It'd have to be muscle.

Re: "ideal wieght"

Some good cardiovascular exercise should have you tuned up pretty quick. Oz is right; at 16 your metabolism is pretty fast, and you're still growing. Adding some exercise, even only 20 minutes 3x a week, will make a big difference in your body composition. Take away a burger or two (and sugar drinks) and you'll be on your way.

Re: "ideal wieght"

It gets faster with:
1: more exercise
2: more muscle (up to a point)

There are a lot of genetic factors, but those two will make the difference. So lift (since muscle burns more calories than fat) run/cardio since that will burn fat, and have a proper diet.

I dont mean to sound like a retard, but I thaught that when your metabolisim slowed down, you couldent get it back up. It was kinda stuck there.

As you age, there is a natural slowdown in bodily functions, and that can't be changed.

But there is also a base metabolism that can be changed. If you sit on your a$$ all day every day, you'll have a slower metabolism than someone who exercises regularly.

Your base metabolism is also linked to how much muscle there is on your body. If you are very skinny with not much muscle, it takes less calories per day to maintain your weight. But if you're a bodybuilder with massive muscles, you might need to consume 10,000 calories per day just to maintain and fuel all that muscle. Make sense?

Re: "ideal wieght"

It makes sence now. I was just wanderin cuz when I had my daughter I got back to 110 in a month. My son, thats a different story. It took me almost 2 years to loose the weight. I was not lazy or anything, the weight just wouldent go away. I was told it was cuz my metabolism was screwed up. Thats why I am such an exercize freak. I still have like 10 pounds of baby weight that I can not loose.
