does anyone know what offset means in terms of mufflers
i went to buy a muffler for my 96 cavalier and the guy ask for the offest and i had no idea what her was talking about

 .... Go to a differnet muffler shop. They obviously don't know what the fuck they are talking about. Or trying to scam you into spending more.

it was at a pretty well known race shop. i never heard about offset before them. it was a 40 series flowmaster muffler

Even so... all muffler shops i have been to have a parts catalog with all specs of parts needed with sizes. So if they were a deacent shop, they could find what the hell they needed out of that book they order parts from. Shit when i have my pipe put on all the did was cut off my stock muffler which crumbled when it hit the floor, i showed them how i wanted it, and they cut a piece of tubing and flared out the ends to the inlet of the pipe... clamped and welded... done 15-20 min later. So i would consider somwhere else man.
