My exhaust droped to the floor all of a sudden.

As i arrived home last night my exhaust hit the floor. I had noticed it for a couple of weeks now that the exhaust was kind of low. I jacked up the car and could not see if there was a support to hang the exhaust in so i tied some wire around some holes i saw in the heat shields. At least for now. As i did some more checking i saw that one of the four screws was loose where the exhaust connects to the manifold pipes. So i tightened it up but didn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions.
