87 Iroc vs. 93 Mazda Mx-6

Kinda an old race but it was my 1st and it was fun. I was on my way home from my friend and i noticed that the guy driving the Mx-6 look familair. Turns out that he was one of my best friends back in high school. I told him to pull over and we conversated for awhile. I showed him my car, (not in the best of shape, crazy exhaust leaks, bad o2 sensor, old and rusty ass suspension, but she still runs good when she wants too) then he showed me his, he had a CAI and think thats about it, cuz i didn't notice any other mods. After that he says he's gotta go and ask do i wanna race. This being my 1st time i was like hell yeah!! Knowing how my car tends to act under hard acceleration (check engine light comes on, its the o2 sensor and the car pulls like crap, it's like it has as-ma(why can't i spell that?), but anyways, we pulled up to the light and waited for to turn green then we both just gunned it. I pulled pretty good on him about a car length and was inching away slowly, i think we got up to about 80 (the instrument lights are on they're way out, so i really couldn'y see, but i know it was fast) the shutdown cuz the redlight was ahead. He rolled down his window and was like you got me. I was happy and mad at the same time because i won my 1st race but my check engine light came on which ruined the whole night. He asked to go again at the next light, but i had to decline cuz the car was running like crap.

Cliff Notes: Got 1st race against MX-6 and won!!
P.S. How fast are those cars anyway(mx-6)? I know mines isn't that fast but it's quick enough. Sorry for the long post.

Manual MX6 LS's run low 16's
Auto LS's run high 16's, Manual base models run low 17's and automatic base models run high 17's.

My friend ran his 305 Iroc TPI into the high 14's. It's been taken really good care of though.

your probably runing high 15s. I raced a MX-6 on the highway from a 85-125, I dropped him off around 115 and just kept pulling till he got the message. and I run high 15 too.
was his auto or manual? the manuals run low 16s lie drdisque said.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure it was stock except for the exhaust. It's his dad's car and he bought it brand new. Like I said, that thing has been treated well all of its life. Now it's got a 383 with the TPI on top and ran a 14.2.

87 Irocs can do high 14's stock...in good running condition though....you'll need to take care of your exhaust leaks and o2 sensor to run that time though.
