An idea: Post info about your cars!

Hey guys, just me with a suggestion again. This applies mostly to the two Completed and in-progress sections, but it's 'general modelling' so I figured I'd put it here.

It seems like a lot of times when someone posts their completed or in progress build, there's a lot of people who ask the same old questions, "what colour is that?" "what kind of putty is that?" "how did you get it so smooth" "what did you use to open the doors", etc. Then sometimes the question is answered on page 2 or 3, and you still get the same question with another 3 or 4 replies simply to say, "read the whole thread before you post, page 3".

I'd suggest that when you post a completed or in-progress model, it might be a good idea to add a little info about what's planned and what's been done. I'm not asking for 2 pages, just brief highlights. Some of you are doing a great job of this, already, I might add.

An example:

If I were to post pictures of my widebody RX-7 project, I'd post a few pics of the progress, as is... ie some putty around the flares, partially sanded out. My brief info would be...

Base kit: Tamiya RX-7 R1
Planned colour: Gloss black over Tamiya Surface Primer
Planned rims: 18", something chrome
Putty used: Base Tamiya epoxy putty, then Dynatron Puttycote
Other: The kit was bought for $3, and had been glued together. I got it mostly apart, but was partly damaged (especially clear parts to the rear end). Converting to widebody, with widened suspension planned. Rear end will get a minor make-over to fix problem of broken parts.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I like info.

Hope some more of you feel the same way.

It's a great idea, and I do that as often as possible. A number of A/F builders already do the same.

It takes time to clearly compose the model description, and it takes time to reply to questions. So I ask everyone to please read the information so that contributors aren't having to spend even more time answering questions that were covered in the original description. It's a frequent problem here, people look at pictures only and ignore the written description, and start firing away questions that were answered in the original description. Happens all the time!

I agree with all of you A lot of people simply look at the pictures instead of reading.

I try to include as much information in my descriptions as possible, but I think a standard form, like a model show entry form but more in depth, would be a great idea. I dig it.

Definitely agreed, in fact, I've already edited my Completed: '83 Camaro Z28 to reflect it
