shut off and check engine and oil light comes on

I am driving yesterday and went to hit the brakes to turn and the car shut off and check engine light and oil light comes on. Car cranks right back up after this happens. Just got a new battery and alternator. What could be the problem now?

Re: shut off and check engine and oil light comes on

Hard to say, those lights will come on the instant the motor dies for any reason, so that in itself is meaningless.

Generally, when a motor stalls when the brakes are applied, it is due to a lean idle mixture issue, the vacuum demand from the brake booster overwhelms it momentarily.

However, since you mentioned battery and alternator, I wonder how recently it was done. I know on GM cars, when you disconnect the battery for more than a few minutes, the computer looses it's learned idle strategy. Then when it is driven again, it will idle too high, too low, or exibit a rolling idle, and is prone to stalling when the throttle is dropped. This continues until the ECM is reset, or the car can just be driven and it will relearn the idle strategy on the fly. Sometimes it takes a few times of being driven before they shape up.
