Thumbs up Just got a G35 and sold my Audi TT

I loved my TT, but didn't like Audi.

Now that I'm back with Infiniti, I expect to be happy again.

After owning the G35 for a week.

It is a great car. I don't miss the manual.

Only a couple of minor complaints. The breaking is very tight (as mentioned in the reviews). I hope it will ease with use.

When I park the car in the garage at night and come back in the morning. Sometimes the car (and trunk) are locked and sometimes they are not. I haven't figured out the sequence yet.

The dash reflects on the front windshield, unless I lower the steering wheel.

I wish there was a "pop" trunk button.

Lastly, I'm glad they have the steering control of the stereo but there should be a display in the dash too. I can control the stereo, but I have to look at the stereo display to see what I am changing.

All in all this is a great car and I am very happy. I also miss my TT, but that will fade with time.

Just wondering how you think the fit and finish of the G35 interior compares to the TT?

The TT interior was one of it's best qualities. I don't think any interior I have ever seen comes close to it's uniqueness and quality.

The G35 on the other hand has a typical luxury (Infiniti) type interior. The leather is nice, but there is a lot of plastic. I had a '93 J30 and the interior of the G35 reminds me of that. That is not to say it is bad, it is just not unique.

Also, I've had the G35 for almost a month with no problems and my TT was in the shop for 3 of the first 6 months I owned it.

For me, I'll take the reliability of the Infiniti cars over the "engineering" of the German cars any day. After, from what I've read, the G35 is considered engineered like a German car.

I'm real happy with the G35, I expect to have it a long time.

Glad to hear that you are happy with your new car and good luck with it. I have two more questions for you. How is the ride on rough pavement? And How is the body roll when cornering at speed?

The ride is what you would expect from a luxury car very smooth and quiet on any road.

Yes, there is a little roll on turns at higher speed. I wanted to get the sports package, but it wasn't available with my color and options at the dealer, so I didn't end up with it.

But I overheard a conversation between two salesman and another customer. They said they took a sports equiped G35 and one without it to a slalom course. According to them, there was virtually no difference.

You should try driving one and see for yourself. I've already convinced one of my friends to get one.

Yesterday I went and did just that and I must say that I was very impressed. The car handled very well and the body roll was not excessive. I have never driven an car with a tiptronic type shifter and the lag was little disconcerting. I kept looking for the clutch . Overall it was a great ride and had a lot of power. I think infiniti might have found a new customer. Although the coupe is probrably what I'll go for. The cabin feels bigger than the 5 series BMW but it didn't drive like a big car.

Nice choice its a great car, keep us updated on your experiences with it.

Audi Bad?

Just curious... why did you not like Audi.

I have a $500 deposit down on a G35 Coupe, but I am still considering an S4 Quattro. In your experience, were there lots of service problems?

Audi doesn't seem to care about it's US customers as much as they care about their European customers. You can verify this by checking any of the forums on Audiworld.com. Complaints abound.

My problems were that many "little" things went wrong with my TT and it was always 3 weeks before they could fix it because they had to wait for parts and they wouldn't put my car back together to drive and I always got a Chevy Malibu as a loner. My car was in the shop 3 of the first 6 months I owned it for minor things.

Even filing complains with Audi of America (AOA) usually didn't help. You would call them and they would listen, but you never hear back unless you called first.

I used Rusnak in Pasadena and I have to say on a scale of 1 to 10. The first year (of my two year ownership) was a 2 and the second year they improved to a 6. They doubled the size of their Audi service bay.

I've owned an Inifinti before this and for those 7 years it was always in the 8-9 range. So far this experience is down a little to about a 7 at Miller Infiniti.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the Infiniti will be the way to go for reliability, service and price!

I am sorry you had so many problems with your TT. I have never had a problem with my A4 not even little ones. The Audi dealer near me is wonderful and I have always been dtreated well. I am going to get rid of my RSX for the G35 coupe, but the Audi stays.

Angry G35 Issues

I have owned my G35 for two months and have had it in the dealer shop almost every week. The issues are as follows:

1) Fuel Pump replacement - Recall issued - Replaced.
2) Rattles from the rear area (sounds like buzzing under the back seat) - Unable to fix.
3) Terrible odor from the AC area after and during use. Openned and cleaned the filters and added an in cabin air filter. NOT Fixed despite these efforts.
4) Breaks squeak - Unwilling to fix.
5) Windows Squeak when rolled down. Replaced window rubbers.
6) Ordered mud flaps - After two months I was told they finally got the color and fit corrected so I was told to come in to have them put on. When they tried to put them on they were wrong. Not fixed.

I like the ride and feel of the car but the little stuff that has been wrong and unable to be fixed is too much!!! I need some advice and referrals for good technical help in the LA, CA area.

Thanks

Check out Fresh alloy They have a large g35 community that has gone through several of the same problems you have.

Good luck.

This is the first I'm hearing of these problems. I was seriously considering the car and still am. But if anyone else can tell me of any other problems they have had with the car it'd be greatly appreciated. Also I heard that there will be a 300hp TT coming 2003 how do you think that would compare to the G35.

Ditto here

I owned a '92 Audi Quattro CS100. Nice car, but the little things is what really bothered me. As you say, the service is horrendous. I thought it was me, but it's backed up by other's opinions. I just don't think it is a well-made car. Never again. This time I did a lot of homework before buying the G35.
