adding a targa top
I'm considering adding a targa top, or maybe even slicing the top off. I like the look and feel but am not sure whether i want to sacrifice performace and stiffness yet. I'm wondering if anyione hass done either of these or know of a company that makes a kit or offers plans.

Sell your hardtop (which is more rare), buy a targa, swap complete. Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good hardtop when targa chassis are everywhere for cheap?

Re: adding a targa top
It was just something I was considering, I didn't know that, but chances are I'll keep the hard top for stiffness. Do you know how much structural support there is in the 87 supra roof?

It is good to think and try new things (although this idea has been brought up too many times) but there is no reasoning for ruining a perfectly good hardtop when there are alot of people out there who would gladly trade or sell there targa MKIII for one. There is also no point in asking about the structure, because if you are asking then you're still interesting in cutting up a good chassis. I can't stop you from doing it but I will tell you now that I won't help you ruin an MKIII. Good luck with either choice.

if you were to do this PROPERLY i can almost certainly guarantee that you would be spending upwards of $15,000+. whereas a decent bodied targa supra would cost maybe $5,000 and all the stress and design work is done for you, in the end its just not worth it. |
