Thinking of buying

Hey there. My girlfriend is considering buying a 2002 ZX2 5spd./moonroof/power locks and windows with about 34000miles on it. They are asking about $8000. I've not done a lot of research on the car yet, so I'm here just to ask what sort of issues should I check for before she buys it. I know the crash tests lacking, which is her main sticking point but she loves the car.

Any advice/suggestion/insults welcome!

i just bought a 2001 zx2 for $7100+tax... $8,000 is a bit high, if it's a dealer, talk them down to at the most, $7,500.

as for the car, here's my pros cons:

***pros***
-nice, cheap car... fun to drive
-good gas mileage, 30+mpg for me
-nice mods available if youre into that...
-trunk space

***cons***
-not much space in the back seats
-mounting kit for non-oem cd players requires an ugly, expensive mounting kit
-very touchy gas pedal... starting from a stop requires a steady foot or you lunge (could just be my car though)

like i said, i just got the car two weeks ago, so i cant go into too much detail... that should help w/ pricing.

Thanks for the response! She just called me after looking online a bit, and found the side crash test results for front seat were 1/5 starts...that's pretty bad. I'm not too into the crash test results, as I tend not to crash my car, but she's all worried about it. Anything that might ease her mind?
