Emissions Workshop - first time

2000, 5-speed

Last week the MIL "check" light came on, and I got a message to check oil. I did, added a quart (I rechecked - oil level is ok). MIL light is still on and Emissions Workshop is displayed for a few seconds after driving off.

I'm taking to other dealership in Fair Lawn, NJ (who by the way did an excellent job diagnosing and fixing an annoying noise that the orginal Ramsey, NJ dealership couldn't find after 6 - six! - visits).

What should I expect for range of "problems found?" I'm dropping it off tomorrow!

What are the odds that after oil was added that the MIL light is just "dumb" and won't reset, and Emissions Workshop is related to that?

Also, where do I find the "codes" that people talk about, that help wth the diagnosis?

Thanks, all

Re: Emissions Workshop - first time

The codes are read with a scanner that is connected to the car's engine computer.

I have an emissions workshop and check engine light on also. If you find out what it was please let me know.
