Rolling?

Anybody ever see a 'drifter' roll? I mean, enough speed, high center of gravity and too much traction, and over you go.

I'm looking at my hachi, and it looks TALL. I mean, it sits really high. The guy before me put on wheels off of a van I think, Falken 195-60R14's. Those are the right size, but it just looks real, i don't know, top heavy. Maybe it's 'cause all the pix online and in the mag's show lowered cars.

I'm just now replacing the blown motor and have never driven it. As soon as it is streetable, I want to find a big space and throw it around. But I'm worried that with enough speed, perfect condition 195 Falklen grip, and it's current ride hight, I'm going to spill. I won't need a wall with an entire paved lot to hit.

I may just be paranoid, but I'm putting all my eggs into this car, and I'm being precautious.

So anybody ever hear of anybody rolling a hachi? Are stock examples liable to do it?

i havent actually, one of the raesons my parents like the sport, i have seen the arabian drifter guys roll, but that hardly counts, but im sure if the road had an edge or something for sure you would roll or something, but flat ground i dont think so.
i have seen some suv's sliding around without any trouble in the rain sometimes because friends just wanna have some fun, they've never rolled.

seen rally drivers roll...

i've seen people flip their cars on mountain roads, but pro drift cars are always very low to the ground, doesnt seem like rolling is an option.

I think we're just waiting on seeing it happen in pro competition, considering the gains in speed and the tightness of competition we're seeing.

Honestly, Irwindale and Wall aren't a big help to the situation, either. They allow the drifters to gain a ton of speed on corner entry because of the bank/flat transition. All it's going to take is two cars trying too hard to be in the same spot at the same time on that first left hander at Irwindale for someone to end up on their lid.

I don't mean PRO drfiters. Thier cars are lightened as well as lowered. I mean the ametures, like me, with thier stock ride hights...

In general, I guess the answer is 'no', never heard of any drifter rolling... Im suprised. Still, Im gonna be cautious with my 8-6.

yea there must have been plenty of people that have tried drifting stock corollas, you should be fine the real thing to worry about is poles, or barriers.

If your so worried about it don't drift it... It's your car go ahead and if you roll post the pictures of it all beat up... Hope to here that it goes good with no problem at all.

im sure amaturs have done it but it is rare. i saw a video of a s13 flipping but its cause he was a dumbass and was going entirely to fast and went into a curb sideways at about 65 or so. just know your limits dont drift in bad locations. and do some suspension work and you will be fine

hehe, yea i saw that, but im not sure if the car flipped on that vid even, the camera came off when the car was in the air.

should be okay... heavy angle drifts w/ close to full counter will have higher chances of rolling ... i'm assuming. So having close to stock setups won't allow you to be doing anything close to it. jus do it on level and relatively smooth surfaces...

you're fine, i did it in my paseo and neon (powerslide...ebrake.. blah blah.. not drift..blah blah) and not once did i feel like i was going to roll..now these were not at speeds of above 40-45 mph, however my neon has a pretty decent height and so did the paseo so i don't think you should be to worried..just start slow

Hi drifters!

Two years ago, I had the chance to see a amateur driver involved in a roll when drifting. I even was in the back seat of the car. It was a 240 volvo RWD, drifting in a huge parking lot(with slopes around 2-3 degree) around 40-50 mph. What happen is that the car began to drift, and he definitly overcorrected it, wich created a huge transfer of weight from the chassis. Then, it just rolled over! I would have never expected a car to roll over on tarmac. Since then, I also saw a video on the net of a BMW serie 3 flipping over by doing exactly the same thing. Fast weight transition is dangerous! The suspension cannot completely decelerate the important and quick weight transition of the chassis, so it just continue its course, bring the opposite side of the car with it and flip it...
