1999 2500 silverado tranny question

I have read of the different tranny issues and that this tranny sucks and that it could work one day and not the next, I just dont know if what I am experiencing is part of the sucky problem with this tranny.

I pull up to a light and it seems to either not shift into "neutral" or down shift so it wants to stall on me. If I kick it manually to neutral I can idle just fine, and then drop to drive and take off. Doesn't seem to be related to the OD.

Question: Is it possibly a sticky valve probem that a fluid change would fix.

Question: Is it an electronic switch that is going bad, It doesn't throw a code

Help

PS. I bought it used so I don't know the treatment it received.. I have 74,500 mi on it.

Mine did that....I got about another 100 miles before it went, 'course I drive like an idiot, but still.
Yet to break it down, so I don't know what the problem was, but there are also a myriad of sensors/sensor readings that could cause a late or no shift as well, but I would think she'd throw a code....and since you're not gettin' one, I'd at least prepare for it to be internal.

A Tranny guy told me that "intermitant" codes may not be detectable, and made a reference to "Hard" codes for lasting or frequently reoccuring readings...so I guess it's possible to have a problem, and not necessarily get a related code.

Good Luck, hope it's just a sensor.

Re: 1999 2500 silverado tranny question

Well, the next thing is that on the way to work today and the way home when I got about 125 deg in tranny temp, I lost OD. Wonderful.

My daughter just picked me up from the Transmission shop. They close at 6:00 EST, so maybe they will get to it tonight, if not tomorrow morning. I will update you all.

Hope for a "wet" part so that the extended warranty covers it. Mixed feelings, sensor, or switch would be nice cause I go out of town this weekend and would be a quick fix.
