Please post your gas consumption on 3.4L engines
All you guys/gals with V6 99+ GA's (3.4L engines) could you please post the gas mileage your car gets?
I just want a general feel of what people are getting out there b/c I think my GA is eating waaaay too much fuel. I recently did a full tune up so there shouldnt be a problem.... I'm stumped since this supposedly is a fuel-efficient car. Right now I'm geting ~15L/100km... for you Americans its about 15.5miles/gal (I think my calculations are correct). These figures are for city driving, since that is what I mostly do. I read that this car should be getting about 12L/100km in the city (as a new car). Thanks for any input |

Currently I'm getting 22-24 in city and about 26-28 highway I feel that they are a little close in mileage for myself. I noticed the biggest improvement in mileage after taking the car on the highway a few times to blow out the build up in the engine. (when i was only doing city driving)

I've got a '99 Grand Am as well and I typically 25-26 mpg. Most of my driving is highway miles.

My 2001 Grand Am GT gets roughly 25 MPG around town, and about 30 on the highway. 67,000 miles.

'99 SE 3.4L V6. I get 22-23mpg in city/highway mix. Usually around 20 in pure city. I've gotten up to 33 on the highway if the trip is from a higher elevation to a lower one.

Re: Please post your gas consumption on 3.4L engines
I guess in theory it's suppossed to help gas mileage, but I really didnt notice much of a difference at all. Maybe a slight increase on the highway with a cold air. (not positive- but that's the experience I've had with it)

So, most of you guys are getting just a touch better, the same, or even worse mileage than my Trans Am gets. 22.5 MPG around town last time I checked, and a hair over 27 on the highway. I think some of you guys need a tune-up.
