Tranny Mounts

I was wondering how hard is it going to be to replace the tranny mounts in my car? It's a 94 Camaro 5-Speed, the shifter shakes when you are driving and if you downshift you can feel the tranny rock. I was wondering if this is do-able for me or have a tranny shop do it?

Re: Tranny Mounts

It is not to bad, just have to jack trans up enough to get to blots then remove. But if it is bad I would think that if you punch it from stop you would hear trans hit the floor board and a thump.

Well I dont hear that, I do feel the tranny rock if I downshift, and if the rpm's go above 3,000. I will probably jack it up this weekend and check it out, see if anything is broken. This has been getting worse since I bought the car in January.

Re: Tranny Mounts

i've done it on my car.. it took probably about an hour and a half (nothing ever goes smoothly for me though). the only real problem with it, is its kindof a tight space, and i have really wide hands with short fingers.. lol. The mount is held in by 3 bolts, one connecting to the crossmember, and behind the crossmember connecting to the tranny itself, thats the pain in the ass part.. but its rather simple.. if you need some info or a walkthrough, i'll be glad to help.. PM me if youd like.

Re: Tranny Mounts

thats easy, i've had to replace mine 2 times!
i took got a hack with a rubber pad on it, and kept the tranny up, then i took off the crossmember, then i just took off the mount, took less then 2 mins.
but maybe that was because i lifted the whole car up at my school's lift. but if u can get ur car high enough im sure u can get it with ease!

Re: Tranny Mounts

i got my poly mount from LMPerformance.com. I wanna say it was like 30 bucks. the biggest reason why it took me so long was because my car was only up on ramps in the front.. so it was slanting back.. and it was only about 8 inches up in front.. so, there wasnt a whole lot of room
