what do Z24's run?
I'm a honda owner, the only Z24 I knew ran 15.5's, what do y'all run? I just want to know if I should worry about the cav's or not, they don't seem terribly quick.

With you mods, I don't think that you need to be worrying about them. Think ya got most of them covered.

depending on the year z24, and how crazy the owner went on it, you should have most of them covered with the car you got going. Your car does sound pretty nice, very few cavs are quick enough to give you worry. it costs a little more money to pump a cav up enough to win over ya, but it can still be done...

A pre 95 Z24 will typically run stock, between 16.0 and 16.2
A post 95 Z24 will typically run stock, between 15.8-16.0 And the 2000+Z24's with no EGR and 10+tq run typically .2 faster than the post 95 With Intake, Header, Catback, a post95 Z24 can run in the mid to low 15's with a good driver. My Z, bone stock ran a 15.86 @86mph

I wouldn't even worry about a cavalier at all. I saw a 4th gen b16 powered hatch back KILLED the 1998 turbo cavalier. The 4th gen civic only had an intake and exhaust . That dude in the cavalier threw a tantrum man

number one rule of racing! Never race a civic hatch!!! they are running mid to low 14's with just the swap and stock exaust..... I raced a new Z24 the other night in my only intake 93 accord A/T and he had full exaust and a 5speed he only beat me by a car length.... He thought he was really doing something until he found out my car was stock and a auto!!! but nevertheless he took my money...

the only z24's you'd really have to think about are the 3.1l z's and the 2000+ with a 2.4l and supercharger + other mods.

reread his list of mods, most of it is cornering or stopping power the only engine mods he has are an intake and custom exhaust.

Normally from what i've seen and heard a 2.4 liter with a 5 speed( z24) runs about 15.5. add motor mount, port and polished head and now we are talking 14.8. 75 shot of nitrous will then put you at 13.5 if not low 13's. lets put it this way. the new eco tecs have no mod support so the owners juice the hell out of them. stock eco tec cavalier LS with a 5 speed runs low 16's. I've sceen and heard of ppl juicin them up with a 75 shot and running low 14's. so if you take a 2.4 moded up already running 14's imagine the results. I myself have not dyno'd my car yet nor have i taken it to the track, but my way of comparison is this: My friend with a 2000 GSR runs 14.9 his mods are: quafe limited slip differential, AEM cold air intake, good ass tires, and Apexi cat back exhaust, oh and short shifter. In a race between the two of us i am a car length and a half back in the quarter mile. Also i raced a camaro once that was running low 14's and i was keeping up. so i figure i run about 15.2. My mods as of right now are: 62mm TB, ported intake manifold, cold air intake, and crappy magna flow exhaust, and engine mounts. I just got a good job that pays well so my cars getting a make over, but i'm not one to tell secrets cause then how would i take your money:smoka:
