94 4.3 blazer running on 3 cylinders

Hey members been a big help, Hey BlazeLT , My friend and I went over the truck the other night he seems to think the egr valve may not be the root of the problem, while trouble shooting we noticed that the truck runs the same with the wires disconnected on the right side facing engine, while the left side manifold is hot the right side manifold is cool to touch, any suggestions, been reading many of your posts cpi and nut kit ect, thanks in advance for your time...

Have you removed the EGR valve to check yet?

Best to check it first seeing it is free before you spend the money for an injector and nutkit and upper plenum gasket.

Is it idling bad but yet will drive fine?

That is a telltale sign of a piece of carbon blocking the pintle open.

Removing the electrical connector will not change anything seeing the valve pintle is physically blocked open with a carbon chunk.

Remove the valve, clear out the piece of carbon, spray the inside portion of the valve liberally with TB cleaner and reinstall with a new EGR gasket.

Then reset the computer by pulling the negative battery cable for ten minutes and you should be fine.

This weekend the egr valve is coming off hell or high water(lol). However I am still puzzeled why The intake manifold is cold on the right side and the left I can cook an egg on. Please enlighten me how this could be. Thanks LT .

Re: 94 4.3 blazer running on 3 cylinders

Chances are those cylinders are being choked with exhaust and cannot fire properly due to not enough oxygen being there.

You should not drive this truck anymore until you have fixed this.

You are doing damage to the engine.

Fix it tomorrow or don't drive it or you will soon be doing more than just an EGR valve.

Re: 94 4.3 blazer running on 3 cylinders

Just a note when you do the EGR... Use a wire brush and carb cleaner... Pick out any carbon on the manifold side of the egr passage... Then run the car for a minute while reving it to blow any loose carbon out.

Actually this would be a good time to run some seafoam through the system to try and clean up any other carbon in the system (and since you would be running it for a minute or 2 without the egr, the additional loose carbon should be blown out)..
