Welp...had the remote starter installed on Saturday. So far so good.
Upon research, prior to installation, I was advised by my local Nissan dealer that it should be no problem to have a remote starter installed in my 05 Quest. I was told by Nissan that Nissan does not install them on site, but sends the vehicle out to have the starter installed. So even if you dropped your vehicle off at the dealership they in turn took it to an outside shop to install the remote starter.
Having previously had a remote starter installed into my 2002 Hyundai Sante Fe by Audio Sensations, I took my 05 Quest to Audio Sensations too for the remote starter installation. Audio Sensations told me that they do all Nissan's remote starters (for/in my area). The guy told me that it was 'east' to install the starter into the Quest vehicles, and that I should have no problems w/ its installation. He was surprised that I came across someone w/ a complaint. You're right...they used my valet (sp) key and permanently installed it into the starter because in order for Nissan vehicles to start remotely, or otherwise, Nissan vehcles must recognize the 'chip' installed into the 'head' of the key for the vehicle to start.
I don't want to jinx myself...but so far no complaints.
Good Luck
