Obd
Is there an OBD system on the 95 model?
I know that the 96 and up have the OBD II system but I was wondering if the 95 model might have some form of it's predecessor (maybe ALDL or other). There is a bunch of info on the Web for GM pre 96 engine but never a mention of the GEO or Pontiac Firefly or Chevy Sprint. I know that I can get the code with the fuse but for fun I was thinking of hooking up the laptop to the car. Seb |

Re: Obd
Since the car wasn't actually designed or built by GM, but rather Suzuki, you could try searching Suzuki's page for info on their Swift pre-96 engine diagnostics info. Good luck

The '95 is an OBDII style data link. The Metro's switched from Tech1 (Chevy) to OBDII between the '94 and '95 production years. As a side note, the Metros didn't start installing Tech1 until '92. Both styles are readily available on Ebay. I bought a Vetronix (Chevy) Tech1 scanner a couple of years ago and love using it. It makes a lot of electronic and sensor troubleshooting easier because you see the same sensor data that the ECM sees. I think a paid about $100 each for the scanner and the necessary cartridge, for a total of $200. I have seen them both for cheaper on Ebay since. If anyone wants more info on this scanner, let me know.
