Noise while steering

Hey all-
1994 Escort, trying to find possible source of slight screeching noise. Only hear it part of the time, and only when turning right. If I'm on the highway, it's more pronounced (I barely have to nudge the wheel to the right to hear it), but not nearly as noticeable the rest of the time.

Just had front brake pads and rotors replaced three days ago (took to a shop, not much of an expert on brakes). Could the new brakes be causing the noise?

Thanks

The new brakes could be causing the noise. Especially if it wasn't there before you had your brakes worked on. It could be that the calipers aren't aligned right or it could be a rotor that wasn't trued properly on the lathe. Even new rotors should be refinished on a brake lathe. It could even be loose lug nuts. Take it back as soon as possible.

I had a similar noise on my 97 escort. It was the ball joint that was worn, which also caused the tie rod to wear.

Re: Noise while steering

I had an un-explained noise in my Topaz that was only there when I turned left for over a year, and well over 30,000km. It turned out being a wheel bearing that took that long to wear out.
I had 3 wheel alignments done, and changed 1/2 my suspension during this time and no one found it until I just had them changed because I though that they were overdue for the maintence.
