Gas mileage

Well im not sure what to think i thought it was normal until i read the thread about yall's gas mileage now im confused. It is my understanding that the 3s has a 19 gallon tank right? well i live in corpus christi a decently large city and i average 350 - 370 miles to a tank in town when i drive home (all highway) i get anywhere from 420 - 490 miles to a tank and i drive quickly regardless. everyday driving i generally shift at around 3500 rpm's i guess my car is a freak, its unusually fast for an SL as well so i guess the car gods like me. lol what do you guys think?

Re: Gas mileage

I've never actually tried to figure out my gas milage...but now you have me curious. I'll fill up the tank when I leave work and check how many miles i get on this next tank.

is shifting at 3500 rmp's bad??? That's what just seems natural for my base as well.

Re: Gas mileage

all the tanks are the same 19.8 gallons.
expect 20 or just shy of that city, and high 20's on the highway.

Re: Gas mileage

I get about 250-350 miles to a tank but I've been driving around town like a mandman lately and no highway. I fill it when 1/8th tank is left.

Re: Gas mileage

I usually have had bad gas experience with my stealth, althought instead of filling it up i usually put 10 dollars to 20 dollars of gas in. 10 dollars gave me about a quarter of the tank and the 20 in the tank would give me about half of tank.. and I usually dont fill it up about 7-8 miles after the annoying yellow E light comes on. Although helpful.. but I always see it lol.

Re: Re: Gas mileage

I usually get to about 380 miles before my little "idiot light" lights up. Thats driving hellaciouly hard and not much if any highway. I have seen 500 miles before the light came on before. It would have been more except I put about 70 city miles on the car. I put all those miles on in one day too.

Re: Gas mileage

you guys get good gas mileage compared to me. I usually get around 300 miles on a tank, however...I drive extremely fast. I normally drive 85mph on the interstate (65 speed limit here)

Re: Gas mileage

28 must be wrong, considering they are 24mph highway driving off the line, and after 10+ years of driving the fuel economy always goes down.

Re: Gas mileage

20k miles on the odometer at the time(2 years ago), and 28 was very right, I was rather impressed myself.

I was getting 21mpg on average city driving, and the sticker says 17 or 18.

Re: Re: Gas mileage

I think these were seriously underrated for mpg from the factory. I figured out if I did a constant highway drive with no city driving I could easily pull 32 mpg. My car was rated at 19city/24highway. I never see below 20 on rural roads with lots of pedal smashing going on. I actually average about 22 per gallon and once again thats mainly rural drivng with very little to no highway/bypass driving.

Re: Gas mileage

I'm figuring i'm getting about 420 miles on a tank. So I'm getting 21 miles per gallon, basicly all highway miles ot and from work each day.
