Which Car do you think would be faster?
Which of these cars do you think would be faster? They are just about the same in price and HP.
- 98 240SX w/ SR20DET engine and intercooler upgrade (265 hp) $11,000 + $3,500 + $700 = $15,200 - 99-00 Si w/ Vortech Supercharger(w/aftercooler) (270 hp) $12,000 + $3,500 =$15,500 Just some ballpark numbers that im curious about. |

The sr20, there ain't no way in hell you can simply bolt on a JRSC and get +100 hp. Is this to the wheels or bhp?

That's a hard call...
I'm gonna say the Vortech Si (weight being a factor)

Actually sorry I was thinking to the wheels, it might be possible to the flywheel. But 265hp would be almost 300 to the flywheel. I still say that's impossible.

On the street, the 240 would probably win. RWD rocks. It does so on the dragstrip too, but at least the Civic would get to run slicks and maybe have a chance.
BTW, there was a Vortech equipped Civic in SCC forever ago. Ran a 14.4 I think. Pretty slow, but they said they had traction problems. What a surprise .

Sick thing is my lil cousin in florida (female) had a sr20det motor swapped into her 200sx turbocharged and the whole nine.....its disgusting because it dyno tested at 230 to the wheels. Thats with no intercooler & I/H/E. Its a full jspec swap.

yes, the sr20det im talking about is the newest off the s15 silvia, costs a lot more than other sr20dets but gets 245 hp instead of the cheapest sr20det which gets 205. so im pretty sure the numbers i gave for it are accurate.

if it's a full Japan spec swap, then it has an intercooler. |

as far as benchracing goes, the 240 would be faster since it's better able to put the power to the ground.
as far as experience goes, the Vortech SC kit only made that much power on THEIR Civic Si... which included some headwork, porting, throttlebody, and cams. the only thing stock was the bottom end. |

did the 97 motors have intercoolers?

intercooler, check.
All sr20dets (from s13 to s15) have side mounted intercoolers, but they are all small and wimpy, I'm talking about a big ass, shit you pants intercooler from blitz mounted up front. (sorry, they actually cost about $1050, not 700 or whatever i said) The kind of intercooler that makes you feel like god.
![]() yes and you r right now that i remember it, the vortech si did have a lot more shit in in. that makes me feel dumb for not remembering that. Now i know the 240 would win. |

who cares which is faster...I know the 240 would be more fun than an Si. BTW: I've seen a Vortech Si put out 330hp @13psi (not from Vortech, from an actual person). That is pretty damn impressive, nothing to fuck with, that's for damn sure.
