2000 GT Weird Sound and engine shake

I just noticed this today, when I put the car in neutral, and press the gas, at around 4000 rmp, my engine starts to make a weird noise like the engine winds down then up again quickly, and the whole car shakes as it does this. I can’t really describe the noise more than just a vmm vmm vmm vmm. Also, I am getting a weird banging noise coming from the exhaust sometimes when this happens. Anyone have any ideas what this problem could be?

Take it to Autozone and get it scanned.

Thats the Rev Limiter that's set-up in the PCM for when the car is either in park or neutral.

I am getting a weird banging noise coming from the exhaust sometimes when this happens.

Sounds like you should take the car to an exhaust shop or get it on a hoist and see if anything is lose.

Why is it the stock exhausts on these cars have issues? My left exhaust pipe hangs down about an inch too far, and when I'm taking off, and occasionally on idle, it rattles. I've had it "fixed" twice, and it always works for a couple of weeks, but then goes right back to rattling. I thinkn next time I'm taking it to an exhaust shop instead of a dealership.
