BG Synchro Shift II

1. Has anyone used or heard anything about "BG Synchro Shift II?" Good? Bad?
2.It's different from the Pennzoil Synchromesh stuff right? Because after reading that one thread about all the metallic stuff that came out of it, I'm gonna stay away from the synchromesh....
3. What do you guys think is better...BG or Redline?
4. Finally, the BG stuff is for manual trannys as well right? Thanks guys.

I don't know much about synchro shift 2...but there are threads on 3si about it, so a simple search should help. Redline is a very well trusted brand and you can be sure you are safe with that.

LOL I actually could not find the "search" button on 3si. But yeah, Linebckr49, Vert, have you guys drained the Synchromesh stuff? How does yours look like?

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

You need to be a member to search.

Try this:
http://www.3si.org/forum/search.php?searchid=864333

Personally, from what I've read I've heard people swear by pretty much everything. And I've yet to read any conclusive info that would lead me to believe any of the four (redline, royal purple, synchromesh, synchroshift) to be significantly better than the next. Everyone has their varied results...some think one is great, some think one is horrible....I simply don't know. From what I've read, there is nothing conclusive.

And no I havn't dropped my fluid, but probably will in the next month from the transaxle and see if there are any shavings/particles. Until then, I'm not really worried.

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

I used BG and i love it, it just takes about 1,000 miles for you to feel the differnece. i havent really heard anything good about the PENZOIL and i havent use it, it is just cheaper. The BG syncro shift ranges from 12 to 15 dollars a quart and if i remember right i used 2.8 quarts maybe i am wrong. but i am pretty sure 2.8 quarts.

GOOD LUCK

Mahdi

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

So G35turbo, have you drained your fluids? If so, how does yours look? I'm leaning towards the BG stuff too.....and one more time, BG is different from Synchromesh right?

-Vert, the link you posted took me to a log in screen.

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

I used royal purple synchro somthing or other, noticibly better shifting after about 1k miles but not insanely better, second is still a little hard to get into in VERY high RPMs but its getting better and better, only about a thousand miles so far on it.

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

i dident really look at the fluid, i feel stupid now but when i changed the fluid i dident think about that. I did the whole proccess in a hurry.

Yes i think BG is different from synromash.

ALL i got to say is from BG all i hear is good and never bad

but from syncromash i hear more bad stuff than good.

But it just depends if ur willing to pay the extra $ and be safe or u can go the cheap way.

Re: BG Synchro Shift II

I went to the Royal Purple site and found that theres a dealer two towns over, cost like $8 a bottle I think... and it realy is purple lol.

Edit: when you do this, REMEMBER to take off the FILL plugs first, I took off the transfer case drain plug first and it took me two days of messing around with differnt wrenches and solvents and a blow torch to get it off. Craftsman makes great wrenches BTW and you should get a breaker bar, I ended up needing one and used opart of a vaccume cleaner hose lol.
