removal of heat shields...

well im sick of the rattles at 3 rpms, so i think my plan is to cut off the heat shields. how would you suggest i go about it? has anyone else done this on their car?

my buddy has a buzz saw, i think thats what its called anyway, its the little circular disc kind.. whatever. so i figure it would do the job, but if anyone has a better idea or some advice on how to do it easily and nicely, that would be great.

thanks.

Re: removal of heat shields...

if you are talking about the heat shield on the exhaust manifold then "yes" you can just unbolt or tighten them. as for the ones under the car.. Just bash them with a hammer if they are rattling. I just think it's fun to bash stuff.

Re: removal of heat shields...

hahahaha, but i dont wanna dent my pipes tho, i just wanna do a clean job and finally be rid of the damn rattling, it drives me up the bananas. (thats just a little saying i have between some friends... long story)

im talkin bout the shields on the single pipe underneath, i dont have the name for it, but they're close to the cat i think, and theres a few of them there, and i just wanna take care of it. if theres just bolts i'll just freakin tighten them, but i thought they were welded onto something..

Re: removal of heat shields...

Buy a header, then go to an exhaust shop and have them rip all the old crap out and have your cat bolted to a nice new custom aluminized midpipe that bolts to your axle back you just got...
