Question Keyless remote alarm and door locks

I recently purchased a 1999 JCG. When I got the car the alarm wasn't working so I replaced the batteries on the remote. After I replaced the batteries the alarm still wouldn't work, so i figured out(i think) how to program to work. Now all it does is lock and unlock the doors. I don't know if the horn is supposed to sound and if the blinkers are supposed to light up?

Also, the rear driver side door lock makes a buzzing when trying to lock/unlock the door automatically. You have to manually lock/unlick the door.

You need to turn on the horn and light flashing function through the overhead console.
The noisy lock is common on Jeep it's defective and needs to be replace.

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

you need to press the menu button until it says sound horn on lock then press step button to on
same with light flash (menu light flash, step yes)
you can turn on/off a few different functions this way.

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

you mean the red light that flashes when alarm is activated?
I believe that's controlled by the Alarm computer.

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

Thanks for the computer help offer but i seem to have a good working relationship with my computers. If the desk top stops working i hit it with a hammer. if the laptop stops i throw it against the nearest wall. lol

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

so that does that mean that the alarm computer is bad or disconnected? Where would you find the alarm computer?Under the dash?

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

The alarm is controlled by the BCM (body control module) which is screwed to the back of fuse block under dash left of steering column. I'm not sure you can troubleshoot it with out a DRBII scan tool (dealer). Hang on a bit someone else may have ideas for you

Re: Keyless remote alarm and door locks

Do you have the passive or active system, I've had my JGC since new and only found out I had a passive system, not really an alarm, from my insurance guy.
