Outside Door Handle

Has anyone had a sticky outside door handle, '99 Silverado. When you open the door the handle stays out. I have to manually push the handle back to home position so the dome light won't stay on. Before I take off the door panel and look what's going on, has anyone repaired this problem? If so, do I just need to get a new handle assembly or is a simple fix (lube, spring)?

Thanks

Re: Outside Door Handle

I would try what BlenderWizard suggested. At least that is what i would try first before tearing the door apart anyhow. Some people might say to not use WD-40 because it will attracxt more dirt afterwards so might i suggest some graphite or some other lube that will not attract dust to it. I have seen a guy once use powdered graphite and mix it with some rubbing alcohol so that you could spray it and it would get into all the little nooks and crannies then the alcohol would evaporate leaving just the graphite behind. Just a thought.

Re: Outside Door Handle

Graphite powder is another suggestion. Supposedly better than WD40 or silicon.

Re: Outside Door Handle

The door removal takes 15 minutes tops. Why not find out what is rubing?

Re: Outside Door Handle

Yeah, I have had it off before to replace a regulator last year. Best I look before just spraying crap into the door handle.

Re: Outside Door Handle

The spray won't work.....You have to buy a new handle....30-40 bucks....

Re: Outside Door Handle

Is that just a handle or is it an assembly?
