About two months ago I bought a stereo for my 03 Cav. Deck, amp, speakers and two 10" alpine subs. It pounds, but it rattles the s*#t out of my car. So, I went and bought a dynamax sound deadening kit. For the trunk and the doors. Spent a couple hundred bucks and took two days to put it all in. It dosen't rattle as bad, but still alot. I then stuffed the gap in the back of the car with foam to stop the rattle. Still not much change. Any one have any other ideas to help stop the rattling. It bugs me so much because I want the stereo to sound loud and clear. I'm starting to guess cavaliers just are not meant to have car stereo's?

wel what i did is I put a lot of that expandind foam in a lot of the little things like around the door s but inside, or in the things that are right next to your winshield but inside your car. I dont know what their called. I also put some in my dash a little bit, and a little bit underneath the seats. thats where a lot of your rattle comes form underneath the seats and in the doors. just look and listen for things that might sound like their rattling and but a tiny bit. Its really messy and I dont know if you want to ruin that stuff by using that expanding foam, but it helps and you cant see it if you do a good job.

I used to have 2 audiobahn 12' flame q's with 2 rockford 2400 watt max amps. maybe cavaliers arent supposed to have systems but they sound hella good. its bomb. and if your going to get 12's, get a q-logic TYPE 2!!! box, not type 3 or type 1...TYPE 2!!

I drive a 2008 Honda Accord LXP. I had one 12 installed by the late Circuit City, it sounded good but rattled quite bad. Eventually just didn't listen to music that loud or even that much. Finally decided to start all the seal tests and the most common, the license plate! Remembered a friend of mine had a quick, "redneckish" way to fix some rattle probs. CLOTHES! So I realized the console, plastic plate over the speakers in the back seat, that houses the break light in the back window was the source of my rattle. I proceeded to remove the speaker covers and began stuffing old undershirts and other shirts I no longer wear in the holes--NO MORE RATTLE! Fixed the plate with 2 socks behind the plate along the top and bottom edges, put them directly on the plate and put the bolts through the socks too. So you don't have to run out and buy black pipe insulation, sticky foam, or double sided tape--clean out your closet and finaly get rid of all the mis-match socks!

Rattling is a hard thing to avoid, especially if your car has been used and abused. Stuff is gonna come loose eventually from the bumps and vibrations of the road and other sources. Then you stick a bangin system in it, your guaranteed to get rattling. One of the things that works for me is that my subs and the music are just so loud that I can't even hear the rattling. Also I can't really hear anything for a little bit after I get out of my car. To actually help your problem though.... I've spent a fair amount of time listening and searching for things that rattle. Most things I just tightened some screws or put a dab of thread locker on the screws so they don't vibrate loose. Other things though I just have to deal with cuz I care too much about my car to make a mess out of it with foam or wedge random objects in places. No offense to anyone else... My advice, if you love the tunes but hate the rattling. Get a louder system!

My post has nothing to do with your post, I have the same problem though and it's an annoying bitch. I only have 6x9 sony xplods and 6 1/2 xplods in the front but it still rattles. Anyway: I just needed to know which wires are the positives and negatives. Like what color is positive and what color is negative from the car. My idiot ex friend told me it didn't matter which end went where...

I have an 03 cavalier as well.
