Re: Anyone seen these before?

Nice find. Did you get these? Price was cheap too. I wonder if it's the genuine article or a rip-off. If you got them, let us know how the quality is. Thanks.

Re: Anyone seen these before?

Yep, i won them. I'm not sure if i'll open them. I probably will since i have no intention of selling them in the near future. I'll take pics too. I jumped on them because i've never seen them before. Quite low price too. And if they turn out to be fake or anything, i've not completely killed my wallet.

I haven't seen them before, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be real. Isn't there a pair of gloves included with the tool roll in the F1, or am I thinking of a different car?

Chapter 17 of "Driving Ambition" that details the build process of the F1 doesn't shows very few workshop employees wearing gloves at all, and the ones who are seem to be wearing a standard latex glove. That tends to invalidate the auction description in my mind, but who knows...

Also, static-uk seemed like a familiar McLaren-related Ebay ID, but a quick check of the available history doesn't show what I thought it would. Either way it's a unique item, the logo looks legit, and they should still be able to keep your fingers warm if worst comes to worst.

They are navy blue.

Funny that no-one has seen these around before. There used to be boxes of the things lying around. I'm sure I've got a couple of pairs around somewhere.

They're not really anything special, just a light knitted glove for handling carbon fibre parts (cause the splinters are evil!). The logo and grip surface on the palm are painted on and you can tell if they've been worn because the paint breaks when the material stretches.

Probably cost a couple of quid new but I suppose if they don't come up often they'd be worth a lot more.

Hope this helps.

Seen those on ebay several times. Usually advertised as McLaren-Mercedes Formula One gloves which I didn't equate with the McLaren cars.

Re: Anyone seen these before?

For anyone who thought i was a little silly to buy these and that they weren't associated with McLaren cars, you were wrong.

I found out recently (on two seperate occasions in fact) these gloves came with every F1 and were supplied in case the owner had to replace the oil in the car themselves. I'll try to get a screenshot of a vid where they are shown.

Re: Anyone seen these before?

Yes Chris, you are right about the gloves.

You could also have, the gloves colour matched to the upholstery of your F1.
