Re: Crankcase Sensor

ok, I read your other posts, and I think the correct term for what you are looking for is "Crank Position Sensor", "crank case" is just the area of the engine where the crank shaft sits.

however, if your engine is still running correctly, and the only problem is a dead tach, I doubt the problem is the carnk position sensor. as mentioned in another thread, the tach gets it's signal from the coil(actuaily, from the computer, but the computer gets its signal from the coil)
the problem could be anywhere from the coil to the tach itself. if I remember correctly, there is a way to run a diagnostic test on the guage cluster to make sure that the guages(tach) is/are working correctly. let me check to make sure, but I think it was something like, hold the trip odomoter reset button, and turn the ignition to the "on" position.
I could be mistaken on that process, so let me do some looking around to make sure that is correct, and to see which moddel years it applied to.

Crankcase ... case Solved

Thanks to all who responded it was a great help ...

Ok ... as Scoutin made mention it is refered to as the Crank Case Position Sensor ... and it really has no effect on the Tachometers operation as mentioned..... I talked w/ my local Dodge dealer and he said that the CCPS only senses the position of the crank in relation to the cam and if it does not recieve a signal your truchk won't even start ...any way I found the problem .. it was a loose connection at the gauge it's self ... LOL ... I initially fixed it by just banging on my dash board ....

ok ... I'll be droppin in later for some much needed suggestions on lifting my rig ...... keep on Truckin ...
