Unhappy airbag light

my air bag light has recently come on and I was wondering if anyone knows how to turn it off. I have a 98 Windstar with 140,000 miles and I don't want to take it in to get it fixed,

Re: airbag light

On steady? or does it flash at you when you start the car? If it flashes, there is a problem with your airbag. Nothing here in Windstar forum says what to do about it. Under Google, I plugged in "Airbag Code" and got lots of stuff. Mostly saying "take this to an expert and have them fix it".

Re: airbag light

I have a 1995 and had the air bag light problem. It was flashing a code 52. I read on here somewhere that means a loss of power/memory in the air bag module. That was true. I disconnected it for a while and then plugged back in and it started flashing a code 52. I read on here how to clear it.

Put key on
read code (anything over 52 can be cleared otherwise bring to dealer).

code should flash 3 times then stay on
if this code is 52 or higher. shut key off
(there is an UNUSED plug taped togeather with the air bag module on left side of steering colum.

Have a wire ready and jump the 2 connections inside this plug right after the first time the code flashes (after turning key on)
