New Suspension and Shocks

I have a 93 Toyota Tacoma / Pickup, and im looking to redo the suspension and shocks. But I know nothing about it. I just know that when I had a 2" Lift put on to support bigger tires and wheels, they changed nothing, and left the old factory equipment on. So the dang thing rides like a rock. YOu hit and sort of bump and the whole truck rattles, along with the CD player skipping. Its just a hassle. So what I really want to know, is what is involved in doing the shocks in the and the suspension. What kind of costs am I looking at to get a job like this done? As I said im new, and I wouldn't even know what to look for to buy it. Any Help is Appreciated. Thanks
