Lightbulb Progress: Lotus Esprit turbo Updated0704

HI I´m Johan from Sweden I´ve been looking and admiring all the models in here for a while but this is my first post to this forum:

I started working on the Lotus Esprit turbo

Progress:
Started the engine and transmission decided to cut of the original discbrakes and install some with more detail.
I haven´t decided if I should move them out to the wheels or I should let them be at the original place next to the gearbox.
Any suggestins are welcome

I haven´t decided on how much bodywork I will do but the rideheight is to high for me so some kind of bodywork is decided that I will do.
I´m thinking of using the rims on the pictures what do you all think?
On the picture I also added a strip of styrene as a sideskirt to get a better stance

Please let me know what you think of this project good or bad!

Veyron I´m really looking forvard of your progress tread on the Lotus Esprit Sport 300.

But people please don´t compare my work with a master like Veyron

Johan Larsson

Hi,

if I can see it right, this is a Monogram Kit. I built this kit years ago and want to give you a tip:

make lots of testfitting between "chassis" (where you fix the wheels) and the floor, I had a fixing problem when I glued both parts together and a big distance between upper side of the wheels and fender was the result.

I wouldn´t take too big wheels for this car.

Re: Progress: Lotus Esprit turbo

looks good, sideskirts give a nicer race stance, as for the rims they seem to bling bling (too big) for a lotus, btw what company makes this kit?

Tjena Johan!
Welcome, nice project...never got around finishing mine before I gave it away to a friends kids to build. I think the rims look alright on your Esprit, put the brakes inboard as this was positive for the handling on the real deal.

Hej å hö!

Re: Progress: Lotus Esprit turbo

I love this kit,

Heres a tip, resin cast the turbo and the cam gears, they are very useful for other projects.

Exceptionally cool. Will you need to drop the nose down a bit? Seems to sit quite high in the profile shot.
Man I'd like to track down some Lotus kits like this one!

Re: Progress: Lotus Esprit turbo

Thanks for all the replys I´ll try to have an update soon. I have decided to bring the discbrakes out to the wheel(rear) because the ones I´m planning on using is to big for the space it is supposed to be

To all the Swedes here: tjena grabbar kul att det är så många svenskar här.
