740 Turbo possible boost problem?

I've got a Volvo 740 Turbo with an automatic transmission and I realised after I bought it that it seems to be actually slower than my 1987 Volvo 240DL. Is something wrong with my new 740 or am I misunderstanding the purpose of a turbo? It is to make a car faster correct?

Re: 740 Turbo possible boost problem?

i had the sma eproblem with my 89 740 turbo,(it was slower than my old nissan stanza!), anyways,...i cleaned out the intake, new plugs and wires, twice the amount of fuel injector cleaner (not bad for it), and the thing had some serious power after. try that, if not, i dont know what to tell you.
