Kei Office D1 Silvia questions

I'm building the Kei Office D1 Silvia Round 5 2004 from Aoshima at the moment. I have a few technical and car specific questions.

First question is the wing:

The real one is CF, but since the wing has quiet a rare shape it'll be hard to CF it. There's gonna be CF on it no matter what, but how should I do it? Small strips? Template?

Second question is the side:
The front fender will be widened just like Andy Jones did if I'm correct. Behind the fender there are some kind of air outlets. Pics are below. The model hasn't got them. I'll be replicating those. Any tips on this? How should I start? Should I be cutting the part of the fender and create a new one using styrene? Just put styrene on it without cutting?

Third question is car specific:
Might be a stupid question, but the hood vent, shouldn't that thing be opened? Couldn't find good references on the net for that.

Fourth question is kit specific as well:
The flaps in the last pic, in the left circle. Are those CF? I couldn't find good references for that too. They came with the kit as small metal parts and I want them to be accurate on the model.

Thanks in advance guys.

Grtzzz,

Bas

Re: Kei Office D1 Silvia questions

i opened the vent on the bonnet/hood myself, used a scriber and micro saw took a short time, wing vents will need cutting styrene and putty, might be hard. dunno about the "flap", there's canards btw. the wing is easy, get some wide masking tape and make a template by putting the tape on the wing and trimming it to the shape of the wing, transfer it to the CF decal sheet and cut to shape.

Re: Kei Office D1 Silvia questions

Thanks for the answers. I'll try to find out about the canards. I already started the vents. I think I'll use multiple layers of styrene and a little bit of putty to finish it of. I'll be showing progress soon.

The vents on the fenders are because the fenders were widened by a bit but I'm not sure how much. Making a template would be the best way to get the wing CF'd.

Re: Kei Office D1 Silvia questions

Good old cheap Aoshima lol, leaving the canards on the front bumper off the mold. Ok ill try to answer some of your q's
1) Usualling templating in the best way to go about CF'ing almost anything so ya template it. Use this:
http://www.briansmodelcars.com/tutor...D=29&CurPage=1

2) The best way to replicate those ducts id imagine is with styrene and putty, i dont think any cutting will be necessery. just cut out small strips of styrene, glue em on, and use putty to shape.

3) Id imagine the real vent is opened, so ya i so you open it, and stick some mesh behind it.

4) The canards are usually CF on cars such as this.

as you can see from the pic, the top ones arent CF but the bottoms ones are.

Hope that helped
Ron
