Smile '72 442 vs. '03 Mustang

Well, last weekend here in WI was one of the few with actually decent weather. So, I decided to head out for a cruise in my '72, it has a built 455 BBO/TH-400 . Filled her up with $15 of 93 octane, gas prices are a real bummer since it only gets 10 mpg in the city. Anyways, headed out to Hwy. 100, a popular cruise strip. Ran around, terrorized a couple hondas, nothing different than the usual.

Decided to head back home but got stopped at a light, and a '03 bright blue stang with a 4.6/auto and two blond chics pulls up REALLY close behind me. Sorta pissed me off so I laid something of a smoky burnout in their faces. So, we line up on the freeway on-ramp and take off. I spin off the line, they got about a car length on me. Pedaled it, and hooked up finally. Immediately jumped up two car lengths and then dropped'em like a sack of potatoes, shut off at 100 mph at the end of the "on" ramp. They turned off at the next ramp instead of passing me.

Wow, what a rush! Too bad I didn't get a second look at my opponents.... they looked hot. Guess they were a little embarassed to be beat by the primered beast.

Moral of story: Need drag radials badly.

Igovert

Hey Igovert, I love the body style for those 2-door post 442's. Real sexy looking despite being a big car.

I have some pics, just email me at [email protected]

It looks like a beater but runs like a champ, and frame/body is actually is solid shape, with the exception of the rear quarters.

Look forward to hearing from you. I would post pics if I could.

Andy

PS - Import dudes, I get confused when you start rambling about SR20 and B18 (?) motors. So, forgive references to stuff like SBF's, BBC's, and 4.6 Mod motors. They are just part of domestic lingo, along with TH-400, C6, T-10, Toploader, and other stuff.

You can just host them on AF in your Gallery and then add them into your posts.
