I have 1992 Hyndai Elantra. The owner wanted me to move this car out of the apartment space since it's a non-working. The problem is, I don't know where to take it to because the motor oil looked like a paint-like .. the radiator was overheat since the lady didn't have the fans fixed correctly on the radiator. I caught her starting it when I told her NOT to start the car since radiator has no water and it made a weird clicking noise as to trying to start. She kept on it. She's deaf woman. I told her not to as to risk the damages on the engine. She stopped and she decided to sell it to me for a cheapest price so I can get it fixed and she moved to Arizona.
Now I get suspicious if the radiator overhead and the water pump may be damaged which remind me of my 81 Datsun which the similar problem. But someone told me it's a valve head problem, but other told me it's a blown motor gasket. I'm in the hispanic community (Los Angeles County area) althought I'm not one of them. But I'm not gonna take my car to that place or this place since they damaged my a/c unit by installing the toggle switch illegally. The radiator's fans were repaired with the similar illegal way by cutting the wires and put in the battery charger's wires with clips on the battery without her letting me know. She supposed to ask my kids' dad to help repair the fan's motors by taking the car to the electronic auto shop but she didn't. She chose to let her friend, a so-called mechanic, to repair but he did it illegally. I decided to test him on what the names of the parts and how did he knows if the measures on the valve head is correct, how much oil does the engine needs, etc..he failed all so he's NO mechanic as he stated to her. So now, back to that; I need help before I'll take my car in for the engine rebuild before they install the new radiator and the fans like my 1981 Datsun 510 (engine exploded after slamming on the freeway pavement..ouch). Is it's the valve head, blown gasket, or the damaged water pump? The oil is still look like a paint.. it won't go away.

Re: I need a big help
Okay...I would try this again...hopefully anyone knows this. Yesterday, we rechecked the car again.. after pouring the water in the radiator...and started the engine..the water splashed out of the radiator like a fountain water or did it barfed? But once I checked the oil dipster, it showed some paint-like texture because the water somehow got into the engine. Please tell me what is the problem??

Water in the oil usually means blown head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block.

Re: I need a big help
Do you mean the oil looks like milk??? If so remove the oil fill cap and look at it and inside the valve cover does it also look milky?? If so you have a blown headgasket or cracked head or both.

Re: I need a big help
Okay, thanks. I will check it. The only good news is the mechanic is really going to replace the waterpump, gaskets, and he will check the engine interior free of charge. I thought I will have to be forced to pay. But he said he will fix it free because the labor is a limited lifetime warranty with the water pump I didn't know. I told him I didn't have the receipts because a deaf lady who bought it accidentally threw them in the trash. He said I have to take the waterpump out and bring it to his shop so he can look up the number and have it towed. I love this car and can't wait to drive it.
Fireplug, I checked inside after I removed the oil cap as your instruction, it didn't look milky. The only milky part is on the oil dipster I took out after filling the radiator with the water. We checked a few time..today, as it rests, the milky like went down and came the motor oil. |

Re: I need a big help
Update: The number on the water pump didn't match to the register forms he has..so but luckily, the tenant next door who has a brother will be fixing my car for the lowest labor price...He found the blown gasket..the cylinders are good. Wheeew! He removed the whole parts off my engine.
But not to worry, he'll put them back together in a jiff after he get the gasket from the special order. Cost me $102.99 plus the labor..I don't know. I can't wait. sheesh, talk about free replacement and the labor..the water pump didn't match up. We asked my friend on the phone did she have it replaced. She said yes. Grrrr! I asked where is the original pump we purchased from the auto shop? She said her friend threw in the trash. <sigh> Bad news..but good news for now.
