Warning lights troubles

I have a 2001 Sonoma 4x4 SLS and I' ve noticed recently that the «SERVICE 4WD» warning light does not come on briefly as it should when turning the ignition switch on. Does anybody knows what may causes this problem?

Re: Warning lights troubles

Is there a way I can check the bulb without removing the instrument cluster and if it is necessary to remove it, is it hard to do the job?

Re: Warning lights troubles

Replace them all with LED's... Choose your color..They never fade and rarely if ever burn out!

Re: Warning lights troubles

Could you give me more details about these LED's, what are they and what about the colours?

P.S.: I usually speak french so sometimes, they are some english words that I don't understand. Thanks for the comprehension!

Re: Warning lights troubles

I had the cluster removed and check the bulb, it did'nt look burnt, it's not black it's very clear and the filament is not broken. I also noticed other warning lights wich are not mentioned in the owner manual: «OVER SPEED», «TOW/HAUL», etc.,I don't remember the others. These bulbs are also in good shape but since I have the truck, these lights had never came on when turning the ignition on. Is this normal, are these lights supposed to come on when turning the ignition on and what about the «4WDSERVICE», why does it not come on although the bulb is not burnt? Just as a remind, my truck is a 2001 Sonoma 4x4 SLS if it can be usefull.

Re: Warning lights troubles

Just because it didn't look bad doesn't mean it is actually good, swap another bulb in.

Other lights in there and ones with no lights are meant for options your truck doesn't have. Some of the service lights won't come on at all until the Bcm tells them to, even during initialization..

Re: Warning lights troubles

I just noticed today that the «Safety Belt Reminder Light» does not come on neither and I think it never did since I had the truck. I would be very surprised that two lights had burnt at the same time! Could it be a circuit, a wire or something like that?
