Power Sliding Door
I have a '99 Venture. The power sliding door stopped opening (opens manually, but not using power). When you hit any of the switches to open it, you hear the buzzer like you are trying to open it when the vehicle is in gear. The power feature closes the door just fine. If you hit the switch half-way through closing, it even opens back up using power.
So today I tried to reset the power door using the procedure outlined in the owners manual. The power part doesn't work at all now, opening or closing, and the buzzer no longer sounds. Is there anything else I can do, any parts I can replace? The motor is obviously fine. I can't afford to pay the stealership to fix it, I just had the damn intake gasket leak fixed. I guess I just want to know if there is anything else I can do to fix it, or just live with a manual door.

We bought a used Chevy Venture 1998....
The power door used to close via the buttons and also the power assist used to work.. it would NEVER open with the buttons whether in the vehicle or via the key fob... Just the other day nothing worked.. clicking used to be the only results of trying to activate the system.. then nothing... Per the owners manual i reset the system and wow i have clicking again.. Nothing else though... I'm at a loss... I can only imagine what the dealer would charge me for this feature to be fixed...

Re: Power Sliding Door
Damn, I guess we now have manual doors, for that price.

Re: Power Sliding Door
Well, the power door started working again. It works 100% correct. I did ABSOLUTELY nothing to it. Go figure. Must be some wiring issue somewhere.

Re: Power Sliding Door
Wiring and connectors... First issue is to make sure that the contacts on the door and the door frame are clean. Those corrode quite easily unfortunately. The brass contacts on the door frame can be cleaned with a mild abrasive (like scotchbrite) or even emory cloth, as long as you are careful. The brass should be bright and shiny, not dark, dirty, or with that infamous blue corrosion. I'm not an expert on wiring contacts, but there ought to be something that you could spray on to help prevent corrosion. The next obvious place would be the wiring harness and connectors of the section that goes into the door. Anytime wiring moves around regularly is a place where it will (eventually) begin to fail.
