2000 maxima rear brake calipers

Hi, I have a 2000 maxima, and I was trying to change the rear brake pads. The first one (driver side) had no problem at all. everything went fine. but the second one, I could not get the cylinder to open wide enough, for the life of me, to get the caliper over the new brake pads. I ended up bleeding out a lot of fluid, but this did not work. It just would not budge. like there is something stopping the cylinder from going in far enough. has anyone had this happen? is this a broken caliper, or am i doing something wrong. I am using a big C-Clamp to close the calipers.
Thanks,
jeff

Rotate the piston to get the auto-adj screw (inside) to retract...

...manual surely would not hurt:

You need the "box" tool. Looks like a small box with 2 nipples on each side, opposite corners. Should fit a 1/2" drive and screw in. Should be able to get at napa or a.z. (careful, this is a knucklebreaker) Look at the piston and you'll see how the tool attaches. Lube real good, my driver side would stick.
