girlfriend's 98 passat is totaled...should she buy it back and fix it?
like teh subject says, her car was totaled, and they totaled it. they are giving her a check for like 7800 bucks or so, and after she pays off the loan for the car she will have about 5 grand left over.
if you follow the link below, you can see pictures of the car. (they are kind of big...sorry). it is pretty much all costmetic stuff, except i guess it needs a new ABS sensor on one of the front wheels. http://web.syr.edu/~bsannich/passat my question to you guys is this...does it look as if she may be able buy the car back (1600 bucks is the salvage value) and get it fixed for a couple grand? and, if she COULD get it done, do you think its a good idea? personally, i think she should look for a new car. if she fixes it, it will be hard to sell it a year or two down the road with a salvage title. but i just want to see what you guys think. any questions, let me know. thanks a lot for taking a look.. -brian |

On any other car I wouldn't worry & keep the car as the damage looks fairly light. On a '98 Passat I'd bail out.
