Brake Dust Won't Come Off
I have tried to get all the brake dust of my new wheels but nothing is working. How do you guys typically clean your wheels? I have tried wheel cleaner, 3:1 ratio soap to water, and even using a paintbrush with wheel cleaner and trying to get the brake dust off.

Re: Brake Dust Won't Come Off
Sometimes the wheels get pitted and the brake dust is permently stuck. Its weird, but it happens.

Try using a paint clay. It sounds weird, but it might just work.

I forget who makes the stuff (might be eagle one), but they make a tire cleaner in a neon orange spray bottle that works on rims pretty well too. Get a soft tooth brush with some of the stuff on it and go over each part of your wheel individually and spray it when your done (so tha the dirt doesnt run as much).
I was refered to it by a friend that runs 2 body shops and it worked like a charm on my wheels. It should take you about 40 minutes to get all the junk out on all four wheels. |

I use acid to get the brake dust off of my wheels my. Im sure you can pick it up at most auto parts stores. Just spray it on let it sit for like 5mins and spray it off, but it is easier to do with the wheels off of the car.

Re: Brake Dust Won't Come Off
I used brake cleaner on my old truck, but I dunno how it would effect the finish of your rims. Mine couldn't've looked any worse than they did so I didn't really care and I'm not sure what color they were originally.

Re: Brake Dust Won't Come Off
you need a pressure washer and some degreaser. spray the degreaser on your wheels then whipe them with a soft brissle paint brush so that you work the degreaser into the grime. then pressure wash the wheels dry them and if they are chrome wax them for a clean finish
