50's Indian Motorcycles...

I am just asking this out of curiosity, i'm not a motorcycle guy myself, more interested in custom and muscle cars, but i just love the late 40's and 50's Indian bikes... Just to learn more about them, can anyone suggest me a site, a book i can buy (off amazon and stuff) and any other tips to get started...

Also, if anyone knows, how hard is the maintenence of these vehicles, and how are they to drive compared to the 2000 + models....

and lastly, what is the average price of such a ride... (i know its a broad definition, but just a couple quotes..)

Thanks a lot....any help is greatly appreciated..

Re: 50's Indian Motorcycles...

I know that Borders and stuff have lots of info on Indian as a company with history, etc. You could look into that for starters.

As for handling and maintenence... the bikes are over 1/2 a century old... there have been MANY "improvements" made over those years. It isn't even a fair comparison to make, honestly.
