Re: B16 Hatch vs 2001 Mustang GT

Tell the hatch to gut his car and he'll make himself $300.

I say he has it already...but alittle weight reduction would not hurt.

Re: B16 Hatch vs 2001 Mustang GT

Right now it could be close..depending on the skill of each driver. But if the hatch was gutted..he'd have it no problem.

Re: Re: B16 Hatch vs 2001 Mustang GT

Sorry, having owned a EF9 hatch w/ JDM B16, and every f'ing mod I could do, in a N/A setup, you have no chance.(the ef is about 400-500 lbs lighter than your hatch) They are undertorqued, and even with EXTREME weight mods, the ruststain will own you. You should do forced induction, nitrous, or a better motor(i.e. b18c4/h22a4). You will be lucky to break the 13's(better-impossible), and the ruststain can pull 13's w/ a good driver and few mods.

Re: B16 Hatch vs 2001 Mustang GT

I guess it depends on the driver? I'd say race and find out. I've seen plenty of videos where a modded n/a hatch beats a stock GT Mustang - even from a dig.

I had a 8lb. AEM flywheel, ACT stage 3 clutch, 3" CAI, 2 1/2" 4 to 1 header w/ 3" collecter, 2 3/4 cat back, no cat. High compression head gasket(11.2:1), Skunk2 Intake Manifold, port matched, Civic type R Cams, Crower springs/retainers. Hondata stage 2 computer, FPR, Injecters. Dyno'd at 178 WHP, Weight with driver @ 2259lbs. Best ETA @ 82 degrees farenheight (100% humidity=Florida) 14.2. That's with the LSD tranny and close ratio final. Not really fast considering the amount invested, Lost money, sold project, moved on...

True that, N/A hondas really are a bitch to make fast. My buddy has a 4dr gsr, with all the goodies including skunk2 stage 3 cams, itr pistons, cometic head gasket, jg TB, skunk2 IM blah blah blah. He has so much time and effort into that car, and his civic hatch with 10 psi blows it away lol. Oh well, he just likes to have fun with the car... hes putting ITB's on it soon.

Re: B16 Hatch vs 2001 Mustang GT

well my friend's 94 lude (stock H22A) will beat any stock GT or 5.0 . ( i didn't believe it until we laid some heavy ass kicking on three diff. GT's and two of the 80's mobles 05's: they were all well maintaned but still stock) anyway... he lost a race to an old hatch with a B16 (bad start)
if he got a good start he might have beat win but lost non the less.

P.S.
the hatch was pritty gutted i think so loose wieght and you will have now worries
