Angry Damn Cooling Fan!!!

I have been having this problem for a about a week now... my cooling fan doesnt wanna come on.. is the a different way of testing the fan motor besides connecting it to the battery directly??? cuz i have been doing that and nothing happeneds... i went to the junk yard and have tired like 4 different fan motors and they dont start either. I have checked the wiring and soo far theres nothing wrong... can anyone guess whats wrong???

on that note, i know in some older hondas the fan would periodically turn on and off to further cool the engine after you shut the car off. is the 89 crx dx supposed to do that? mine doesn't.

Re: Damn Cooling Fan!!!

were you testing the fans in the junkyard?? or were you hooking them up to your car, cause you'd want to make sure you had a reliable power source if you were testing them in the yard.

The fan relay is near the airbox, and the A/C relays are near the passenger headlight. Don't forget to check your fan temp sensor too, located under the intake manifold. GL

Re: Damn Cooling Fan!!!

ok ok, let me get in here. behind your engine on the back of the block, theres a sensor with 2 wires coming out of it, its covered by a rubber boot, its not a regular clip its more of 2 seperate connectors like butt style. pull both wires out and then jump them together, your fan should come on. if it does then taht switch is bad. if it doesnt come on, then test to see if theres power going to the sensor it self, if there is then check the fan itself to see if there power going to it, if not then you know the relay is bad. if theres power then the fan motor is bad

Re: Damn Cooling Fan!!!

You don't even have to do all that. All you have to do, is take the ground wire from the fan and splice off it directly to the chassis and your fan will come on with the ignition. If it doesn't then you have a fucked fan, sensor or relay as civickiller said and can play sherlock holmes if you want...
