well considering the type S has 5 hp more then the 2k2 max. I would it would be a hard race for the max to win. I mean the CL type S are already keeping up, or if not beating the max.

theres the 3.2 TL (sedan) & 3.2 CL (coupe) & they R both offered in type S model making 260 HP but the CL is now offered with a 6 speed, personally i think it would be a close race dependng on driver skill since i used to work on Acuras & I own a Max im not bias but the Type S does have VTEC to make up for it being a single cam engine but the max does have the bigger engine possibly making more torque.

i think the vtech technology is being too over rated by everyone. True it does make the engine more efficient but everyone is treating the vtech as if there is a twin turbo. Besides not only honda has variable timing, all the other japanese car maker has them too. But you don't see them making a big fuss over it. It's sad how our expectation is car these days are determine by rice boys.

true VTEC is on of the greatest automotive inovations since the car being invented & next to the new VW W-8 engines, rice boys may have over killed it but having extra cam lobe in the valetrain does wonders for a small displacement engine, & not all car have it, they just have a form of VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing W/ intelligence) Honda has three differnt forms of VTEC of course the most favored one by rice boys is the one in the twin cam engines with lift (Valve Timing Elictronically Controlled W/ Lift) Toyota made one more advanced VVTL-i (Variable Valve Timing & Lift W/ intelligence), notice "Lift" is the key word, so unless you test driven a new Celica GT-S dont knock it till u tried it.

True that.......NISSAN power baby, vtec didnt help that Honduh Accord Coupe I4 5Speed I ate with my 4 cylinder Altima last night. My CVTC (wannabe vtec) seemed to do the trick :frog: Yeah I have .2 more liters but still I also have 2 more doors

Now, now, now...

OK, so there's a few people who know all about the beauty of VTEC. I myself was a "rice" boy as you call it. However, I wasn't a poser. I had a nice little 90 crx dx.... but it didn't stay that way for long. We did the swap, the b16a, which is 1.6l, 160hp, 111ft/lb. Yes, may seem weak. But in a 2,000 pound car, it screams. I ran a 14.66 with that motor completely stock, nothing more than an intake and exhaust, and it wasn't stripped. And for a mere $1k more, I'd be in 12's. I work on these things all the time and they're works of art, but they aren't built like the Nissans. I like how the Max is built... therefore I am looking for a 95 if anyone knows of someone selling? But either way... Don't go knocking the beauty of VTEC. Drive one and listen to it scream at you. Not many can have a bragging right of a motor that just begs for the 8200 redline, you know? And there is nothing like that first time. When I hit VTEC on a December evening, I about made a mess in my own pants! But enough... I want a Max, but I have respect for those who do a Japanese car the RIGHT way!

WANTED! 1995 Maxima SE, preferably, in either auto or 5sp, but rather have an auto for what I'll be using it for. In very good condition and somewhat lower miles, maybe under 100k if possible. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of $7g's. Let me know someone!

Yeah VTEC sounds cool, but its nothing more than an on/off switch that lets more gas flow in. Porche has designed one that alows it to accelerate from 20mph to 160mph in 6th gear. I am just saying VTEC isnt all that, but it sure does help those small displacement motors.

TL Type S only comes in 5 speed auto. Only CL Type S have 6 speed manual for now.

The SOHC J series engines have a lot of potential. VQ35DE does make more torque than what Type S have.
