1998 z24 sputtering.... help

NEED HELP....my engine light is not on... the car runs fine if i don't give it much gas through all the gears.... but if i want to drive a little faster it sputters... i really can only push the pedal a 1/4 of the way down if i dont want it to sputter ... i changed the plugs and fuel filter... any suggestions of what it might be??? Vacuum leak? or Timing??

Could be any number of things wrong. Just because the check engine light isn't on doesn't mean there isn't a code in the computer. I'd take the car to one of the parts stores that will read the computer for free (Autozone, for example) and see if there are any trouble codes there.

There are too many possibilities without knowing more. Here's a list of some of them. Your car may not have all of the items listed...

Bad coil
Arcing plug wire
Crank sensor
O2 sensor
Mass air sensor
MAP sensor
Clogged air filter
EGR valve
Vacuum leak
Throttle Position sensor
Computer
