why would you drink

well i was just at a party and i dont drink or anything, i never have and after this really dont plan to, but honestly why would anyone drink booze? explain your reasons, and please tell me one good reason at all, i think its the most pointless thing to do, friends at the party wanted me to, but i hate it i dont see a point at all, why get wasted! one of them started saying "why do you like cars? its something you do" how can you really compare drinking to auto racing, im just pissed off at anything like drugs and booze at this point and have just cut off all comunications with half of the friends there, anyone, at all have a good reason cause im just not seeing it!

Re: why would you drink

I drink to relax or get my mind off of my problems.

I think the simple answer is, it makes you feel good. Alcohol and drugs all affect people differently. Sometimes I drink after work because it was a long day and really need to relax, feel good, and forget about my troubles. I drink with friends because alcohol lowers your inhabitions, gets you comforatable in your surroundings, and to some extent help you get laid.

It's understandable how you feel the way you do. Having never been drunk and looking at all your friends get fucked up and acting goofy can be a major deterrent to drinking. If it's not your thing then it's not your thing.

Re: why would you drink

there is a difference between drinking a glass or two of wine with a nice dinner, and getting totally sh*tfaced at a party... are you asking why do people imbibe at all? or why do people get completely wasted?

It's fun to an extent, I've gone past the "extent" part a couple times and it's really not fun then. it makes for some interesting conversations though. :P

Re: why would you drink

I am a very shy person. I drink only at public occasions, and when I go to Germany. It definitly loosens me up, so i'm not all quite and shit. I don't drink alone, that could get depressing.

Re: why would you drink

I've gotten wasted a few time and thought it was kinda fun but the next morning really sucked so I don't really drink much at all when I do. But I do smoke weed on occaision with friends and it just helps me relax...I'd never do it often enough to make it a habit though.

Currently being under the influenece...it's nothing bad, for me anyways, it does make me feel good and I can seem to let go of the past, and all the shit in my life. I don't take pride in the fact that i'm an alcoholic but it does have that effect on your body that makes yo0u feel good. Should you try it? completely your decisison, and friends should respect your decivisin on it no matter what, but if you do decide to try it be careful, first couple times are didffernt for ya but you'll get use to it and find your tolerances, if not man, cool, you can do just as well without it. If you can't find new friends that dont drink, then i dontk now what to tell you, but it's nothing too bad to try it sometime, just be careful so you dont do something you dont want to. IK've witnessed it too many times when people do stupid things, and i'm actually responsible when i'm drunk and i try to stop people from doing overly stupid things, but last thursday night we took a trip in the woods while it was muddy and it was fun!! Alcohol does make things better, whehter you believe it or not, but just have to be careflu with it.

Re: why would you drink

etoh is not a bad thing unless you need it. I have seen people who don't get it go in to etoh withdrawl seizures. Kinda fun to watch . If you just drink on occasion and don't rely on it there is nothing wrong with it. Just dont be dumb and drink and drive. If you go out always have a D.D. Or call a taxi. I have seem way to many bodies dead from drunk drivers and i live in a lil town. I got to cut one out with the Jaws of life. Not a fun job doing body recovery.

Re: why would you drink

well i used to like getting hammered every weekend and all that shit. Was fun in high school, but then i got a DUI. I really dont drink anymore, and if i do, i dont drink to get drunk. Now i enjoy drugs that are less detectable and dont give you a hangover. Weed is great and so are prescription pills.

Exactly, there is a huge difference b/w the two.

You're young though. It's good that you know you don't like or want to drink. But to want to cut off ties with your friends just b/c they do is pretty ignorant. People just want to have a good time and so they choose to drink to make themselves feel other than sober and just take their minds off of problems they may be having.

I drink b/c i've always been around it with my family. It's never been a negative issue. I don't drink in excess to get stupid. I get a buzz and quit. I started smoking weed b/c i liked it, i actually liked it better than drinking. I started smoking heavily b/c it helped me deal with my depression and last year i did it a lot b/c it was really the only thing that helped me deal with my roomate.

To relax and loosen up a little bit. I am a VERY tense person and always have a high guard up. You may consider me an angry person as well. Having one or two beers(guiness[sp?] or corona [during the warmer months] preferably) will loosen me up and make me a little more social.
