I baught mine for the following reasons:
1) 0% financing 2) Great styling on 2003 coupe model in my opinion 3) Loaded with am/fm CD/cassette, power windows 4) Decent incentives offered by dealer (including 0% I got $2000 off the MSRP) 5) I wanted a car with above average acceleration figures. The stock 2.2-liter Ecotec engine puts out 140HP and 150lb/ft of torque..top it off with the manual and this car can outperform many cars that cost thousands more! I've surprised quite a few people! 6) Customization - www.RKsport.com is one of many aftermarket upfitters for all your performance parts. There is lots you can do! What about you? |

I actually didn't want or like my car. I got talked into buying it and it grew on me. I love my cavy now. I'd still like something faster than the 2.2 nonecotec, and a manual transmission, but oh well.

Re: Why did YOU buy a Cavalier?
I bought my 1989 new when I got out of the Navy. It was nice looking and cheap to operate so later I found a good deal on a 94 RS I bought it. I drive it every day and leave the new Century at home for the wife.

it was in my price range, it was a 5 speed, and it had way less then 100000 miles on it, plus it looks perfect (body/paint) and runs great

I bought my 2004 Cavalier because:
1. I liked the look of it. 2. GM had extended the standard powertrain warranty to 100,000 kms and offered a $5,000 Cdn price reduction incentive on all new 2004 Cavaliers. (I used part of the $5,000 reduction to purchase 160,000 kms extended GM powertrain warranty.) 3. The publication "Lemon Aid" rated the Cavalier reliability as average. 4. The Ecotec being a relatively new engine which - according to all reports I could find, seemed to be proving out in a positive manner, I concluded it was worth a try. In that regard, I was further encouraged reading that the motor was planned for use in numerous models in North America and Europe. 5. I felt that Cavalier provided my best bang for the buck given what I could afford, for a fairly economical subcompact. (Here in Canada, comparably equipped Toyota Corollas and Honda Civics are priced at least $4,000 higher.) |

Re: Why did YOU buy a Cavalier?
It gets good gas mileage, was reasonably priced, and American made (in Ohio). I'm one of those freaks that won't consider anything that's not union made in the USA or Canada and the car must have a high US/Canadian parts content. I had 2 J-bodies before this one so I know about their good reliability.

Re: Why did YOU buy a Cavalier?
Quote:
Payments on the Ram I was driving were killing me, as was the 12-13 miles per gallon. I also had a bad feeling about the way gas prices were heading, and sure enough, now we're over $2 per gallon. I miss my Ram sometimes, but not when I fill up the Cavalier.
