Re: speedometer

This you can fix yourself. . . If you are patient and cognative. 1. Pull the Insturment cluster. 2. Remove the speedometer/odometer. 3. The problem is that the two screws holding the odometer to the speedometer face are loose. I fixed this, but I didn't take any pictures while I did it. I can only explain to you. Shall I go on? (You can pick up a replacement cluster for about $50 at a junkyard)

Karl.

PS. Hope you ask. Tools required at this point are 1. Drill Press.
2. 3/8 " Drill Bit
3. Screwdriver.

PPS. My speedometer used to jump back and forth from 20 to 100 before I attempted to fix it.

PPPS. It's fixed for 40K miles.

My 95 was jumping when I got it. The previous owner's mechanic thought it was the lower cable. The previous owner (po) bought the lower cable but the mechanic said the laber was more than he wanted to spend on repairing the speedo.

When I was driving it, I noticed the shaft for the needle was bouncing around, like it didn't have a bearing.

To make a long story shorter, I got a used insterment pannel from a bone yard for 50.00 and put the head in to my pannel. (I knew my other items worked) I also check and replaced any burnt bulbes when I was in there.

I still have the old head and am working on getting pictures together (of it and other items) in a web page for others to view. I plan on taking it apart and see what did fail.

Regards

Dan
