Re: speedometer
This you can fix yourself. . . If you are patient and cognative. 1. Pull the Insturment cluster. 2. Remove the speedometer/odometer. 3. The problem is that the two screws holding the odometer to the speedometer face are loose. I fixed this, but I didn't take any pictures while I did it. I can only explain to you. Shall I go on? (You can pick up a replacement cluster for about $50 at a junkyard)
Karl. PS. Hope you ask. Tools required at this point are 1. Drill Press. 2. 3/8 " Drill Bit 3. Screwdriver. PPS. My speedometer used to jump back and forth from 20 to 100 before I attempted to fix it. PPPS. It's fixed for 40K miles. |

When I was driving it, I noticed the shaft for the needle was bouncing around, like it didn't have a bearing. To make a long story shorter, I got a used insterment pannel from a bone yard for 50.00 and put the head in to my pannel. (I knew my other items worked) I also check and replaced any burnt bulbes when I was in there. I still have the old head and am working on getting pictures together (of it and other items) in a web page for others to view. I plan on taking it apart and see what did fail. Regards Dan Dan |
